Perpet-U-Hate
Perpet-U-Hate
Nonconstructive commentary posing as humor or entertainment.
Primarily in the form of re-posted graphics with text, specifically designed to perpetuate hatred for others without presenting any logical basis for doing so.
Maybe I'll add Perpet-U-Hater as the one who Perpet-U-Hates.
Think it'll stick?

Who's up for crucifixion?
Shock value turns from entertainment to offense when it contains a challenge to face unavoidable truths about ourselves.
True shock value comes when someone speaks to us honestly, and frankly.
It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt...
Matthew 5:38 plus
What we have hear is a failure to communicate
I was just talking to a friend of mine and told him...
The funniest thing I ever heard Jeff Foxworthy say was regarding the communication gap between men and women. He noted that the same words, depending on who was saying them / hearing them, meant very different things:
For instance, if a man and a woman are out to dinner and the woman says to the man,"I'm not wearing any underwear." Well, you know what he's thinking..."I'm getting some tonight!"
But, if the man says to the woman,"I'm not wearing any underwear." She's thinking,"Oh great! I'm going to have to wash those pants three times!"
I've often said that things usually aren't funny when we can't relate, funny when we can, and not funny at all if we can relate too much.
So in taking the funniness out of this, I began to think about out current state of things in out culture and began to consider that perhaps a good deal of our problems might stem from our messages, how they're communicated and how we interpret them.
The joke above was funny sure, but it also shows something to us about ourselves if we go a little deeper. That is regardless of what it it's we are saying, most often people have a tendency to hear what they choose because they tend to consider the message in itself less than how that message relates to them.
That seems pretty natural if we consider that the other person is surely telling us something that applies to us or why would they feel the need to communicate it at all, right?
But I wonder of anything would change at all if instead of rebuttle or offense for how we may perceive the message applying to us, we first considered that what it's being said is a communication meant to tell us more about the other person and what they are thinking about themselves.
It seems pretty self centered to think that just because something may be applicable to you must mean that it's about you, right?
Just thinking...

Is one or both of these sharing?
1) We are in a car. We stop for food, for me. You mention that the fries smell good. I say that they are. Later, much later, after they're cold I offer you some fried saying that I couldn't possibly eat any more without getting sick.
2) Same scenario as above, but after you mention how good they smell, I offer you some, while they're fresh and hot.
Probably both, but to my mind only one truly encompasses the spirit of sharing. Don't you think?
Thought but not said way too often 1
Whatever
You really think I'm going to remember this.
Tell me this is a joke
I get the feeling only one of us cares
I had more respect for your position before you explained it
These directions are clearly for people who don't need directions
Tell me again, but this time don't assume that I know everything you do
Most of the time
I don't think the problem it's so much that I am not listening to what you are actually saying, more often the problem seems to be that it is you who don't seem to be listening to what you're actually saying.

Show me how I am wrong
and I just might change. However simply telling me that I am wrong, will more likely serve to make me all the more certain that I am correct.
Welcome to the Phoenix Zoo
It's hot out there, and if you don't have a drink we'll give you all the hot, shitty tap water you can drink for free. (when you can find a fountain that is)...or for the mere price of $3 a bottle you could have this cold bottle of filtered water.
Your choice...
The Phoenix Zoo, we exploit all animals without regard to species.
Thanks for coming.

Time Pirates
Note to Reader:
While I often incorporate biblical scripture in my writing, for the most part, I sneak it in. I say that because whether you realize it or not it is in there, to be perfectly honest I just don't often site its source.
You may be asking why, or if doing so is my attempt at some sort of trickery.
Fair enough, but quite simply the answer is no, it's not.
The actual reason that I do this is so that any bias that may otherwise be extended against it, solely by virtue of its source, will be removed from the equation and it might then be considered simply for the profoundness of truth it contains.
All that said however, because of the nature of the subject matter herein, I have not extended you, the reader, that luxury this time.
This time I feel you should know quite clearly, where it is I'm coming from.
Enjoy, or don't, whatever.

Love
We cannot pretend to have love as our as our motive with hate as our medium. The two are impossibly compatible.
Hate can always be justified, and it's easy to hate by virtue of self-certainty.
Love however, is rarely justified, there's hardly ever any certainty, and it is often difficult to extend.
That however, is in large part exactly what makes love beautiful, and makes it's ability to transform so powerful.
While both love and hate are highly contagious, it is only love that can be extended solely for it's own sake, without ulterior motive or need for return.
Love is its own reward and we love only because we were first loved.
Shalom...

The Scorpion and the Frog
A scorpion and a frog meet on the bank of a stream and the scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back because the scorpion cannot swim. The frog asks, "How do I know you won't sting me?" The scorpion says, "Because I need your help, I like you ."
The frog is satisfied, and they set out, but in midstream, the scorpion stings the frog. The frog feels the onset of paralysis and starts to sink, but has just enough time to gasp "Whyyyyy?"
The scorpion replies: "Thats what we do it's our nature..."

Speak what we feel, not what we ought to say.
The oldest hath borne most: we that are young
Shall never see so much, nor live so long.
- William Shakespeare, King Lear (5.3.325)
9:11 Never Forget
And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples,
“Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
Weird....
That somehow your life is better because someone somewhere has it worse?
What about not complaining about your life, for gratitude of having it, and then helping the one who is fighting for theirs?
Weird....
Asses sment
That said be careful when you assess, it seems very easy to becomes one less "s".
The Rich Man and Lazarus
Think about it....
Luke 16:19-31
“There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
“The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’
“But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’
“He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
“Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’
“‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
“He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

Rich people in Heaven LOL!
As long as we're only striving to be rich and not actually rich we're fine though right?
It's other people, not you.
I posted this on face book with the verbiage above.
I received a response about the list of dichotomies being endless.
This was food for thought...this is what I thought.
Perhaps that the list of dichotomies is so endless speaks to it's importance to address the issue, not ignore it. Pick a place and start, but don't ignore it.
Just my two cents...

Matthew 15:7-9 ESV
You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said: "'This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'"

You're clearly not a grown up
Hello, because you can't be trusted to turn off the water, I will be controlling your water usage today.
You will have one of three choices, as follows:
1) Not nearly enough water
2) Almost enough water
3) Way too much water
Now, which would you like?
Fucking Burford
You left without saying goodbye...again.
Once more you have broken my heart. If you were a girl I would have broken up with you years ago...I miss you.
I hate you, and I love you.
I hope you're well...
F
whatever this "F" is I'm not sure why so many people have access to it, or why so many people seem concerned for keeping it sealed up.
Perhaps for freshness?
Whatever the reason, it seems like I always hear people telling other people shut the "F" up.
I'll have to remember that if I ever get one.
Funny isn't it
When I consider all the cute and cuddly animals in God's creation, I never consider the very non cute and cuddly, the X O skeletons.
Love may give you crabs, but crabs won't give you love.
The married folks will know
If by some strange and miraculous turn of events you somehow manage to get an invite to come over to my house for dinner, I will give fair warning now...
Don't you far even think about showing up early, I WILL kill you.

Being adequately informed is a democratic duty, just as the vote is a democratic right. A misinformed electorate, voting without knowledge, is not a true democracy. Society needs the expertise of academics in the most important issues...A democracy then needs the press to disseminate academia's knowledge and to do so with integrity. But the media's ambition to be entertaining and provocative too often overrules its respect for intellectual rigour.
Jesus? Freak!
It's an unfortunate thing that most people upon hearing the term "Christian" do not foremost associate Christ with it. Let's work on that....d(-_-) b

But where does that argument go when it comes to actually supporting a candidate?
It's gone.
Why?
Because it's a farce.
Parable of the Two Sons
Matthew 21:28-32 English Standard Version (ESV)
The Parable of the Two Sons
28 “What do you think? A man had two sons. And he went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’ 29 And he answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind and went. 30 And he went to the other son and said the same. And he answered, ‘I go, sir,’ but did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them,
“Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes go into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. And even when you saw it, you did not afterward change your minds and believe him.
