I always say when some people act in a particular manner (asshole, or stupid, but I honestly have to think asshole is just the manifestation of the resulting frustration caused by that initial stupidity) anyway... it really helps in dealing with those sorts of folks to consider that they aren't acting at all, it really is exactly who they are.
