The Oak Firmly Planted and the Wise Acorn

Tonight as I was moving some stuff around in the carport a piece of nice finished oak trim fell over and split.

Bummer...

Thinking I was being at least cool if not optimistic, I said, "Well that's no good anymore."

Sofia (7) without hesitation replied, "No it's still good."

"How do you figure?"

"We can still use it for fire wood."

Perspective, it's everything.

She was right.

In fact, I'll probably enjoy that piece of wood as a source of fire far more than some display of my poor carpentry skills that hangs around forever and I'll wish I had actually burned anyway.

I'm glad that wood broke!
