People who made donations to elect candidates also had to match those donations by giving them to a charity that is actually helping the problems in the world right now.
That's a lot of money...
projected military/defense spending for 2012 alone is 1.6 TRILLION dollars. what if we had to spend one dollar helping people for every dollar we spend killing 'em? what would a TRILLION AND A HALF dollars in one year do for healthcare or education? how about ending hunger across the planet? we may have to lay off school teachers and firemen, but for God's sake don't defund any of the wars!
