Exhale

The Scene:

I was in a place I'd never been and as I was being shown around we came to a swimming pool...

The Conversation:

Host:
Here there is no need to breathe by inhaling and exhaling. You can, but you don't have to.
Like most new arrivals you are still breathing, but that's a matter of habit.

Me:
So this means we could go under water for?..

Host:
Correct, there would technically be no need to surface.  However,  a lot of people drown.

Me:
I don't understand.

Host:
Right now breathing is all you know, you've been doing it so much for so long.
Once you realise, really realise, you don't have to, you can stop, and you will.
Eventually breathing will require a conscious effort, and there will be times that you'll want to.

Attemping to be fully submerged for any given length of time is such a foreign concept, not being used to it can cause panic. The default mode kicks in and people start trying to breath again.

They wind up drowning.

End Scene

It's taken me weeks to find the lesson in this dream, but here's my take away:

Fully experiencing and enjoying the moments and people around, you by not doing what you don't have to, may be the very thing that keeps you alive.

So I posted this:

Life is like an all you can eat buffet with sporadic business hours.

Then I was asked to explain it.
So here you go...

I was just thinking how some people spend time filling their plate, arranging their food, figuring how much food they can carry, and when closing time comes, there they are, all that food & still hungry.

And now you know.

Some Stupid Stuff I Just Thought Of

There are times when moving forward may mean moving foeward.

Relational Gravity

If an object in motion tends to stay in motion, perhaps we would be wise to consider that the same may be true of people too before we push anyone in any particular direction, especially away. -db

Stopped to rest

Looking forward is easier when you can look backwards too

We are children frantically chasing petals in the wind, hoping we might gather enough to make a flower before the bell rings. Forgetting in our frenzied pursuit... this is not at all how flowers are made.

I'm never really bothered all that much by the traffic, at least not until I'm a part of the traffic that I then find so bothersome.

You shouldn't be too disappointed just because people don't care as much as you care.

You really can't even expect people to care just because you care.

But ask yourself this, why in the world should anyone care at all if you don't...?

Phase Shifter

It's all new at first, everything.
Shiny and new, to you at least.

But then after it goes for a while, it really seems like it all just starts over again.
Like some sad sick joke that was really funny once a very long time ago.

It never really gets much better, but I guess it never really gets much worse either.

Same old questions, same old answers.
Same old products in a different package.
And it just keeps going ... and going ... and .... going.

I suppose maybe we should do the same until we can't that is.
That day comes...eventually, for all of us.

Hang in there.
